Amber Cate’s Cancer battle

Hi, my name is Bridgette and I am helping to raise funds for my nephew, his wife and sweet Judah. This family means so much to me and having to struggle with finances is not something they should have to worry about right now! I personally know what it is like after going through it with my husband 5 years ago and was so thankful for all who helped us then. I want to help take some of this burden off of them! Here is Amber’s story so far..

Amber Cate is 28 years old, happily married to her husband Ashton. They have a two year old baby boy named Judah. In early January, Amber was diagnosed with a malignant carcinoid tumor (a rare form of lung cancer) in her right lung, fully blocking the airway to the middle and lower lobes.

Those lobes have collapsed, and will need to be removed along with the tumor. The removal surgery will take place Feb. 22!

It will be an open surgery through her side/back. Given the location of the tumor in the airway, a decision will have to be made during surgery to see if the upper lobe is salvageable, or if it will require a full pneumonectomy of the entire right lung.

After the surgery, the pathologist will conduct a more in depth biopsy to determine if this is a typical or an atypical carcinoid, there has been too much a bleeding risk to get full clarity on that prior to the removal.

If atypical cell are found, chemotherapy treatments will be required (please pray against this!). If no atypical cells are found, the removal surgery will be the last step.

Recovery timeline of the surgery is roughly 2-3 months before she’ll be able to return to work, with an estimated 6 month timeline to full recovery.
