Amber & Michael need our help - devastating crash
Donation protected
My sister, Amber Dunphy, and her husband, Michael, are a modern day Brady Bunch in many ways. Between them, they have 8 sons, ranging from 10 years old to 21 years old. Michael is the family's breadwinner, working long hours running his own business to make ends meet.
On September 18, they suffered a parent's absolute worst nightmare. Michael and their twin 16-year-old sons, Jason and Nicholas, were involved in a devastating motor vehicle accident near their home in Wayne County.
Tragically, Nicholas was killed in the crash.
Michael suffered significant traumatic injuries and was flown by LifeFlight to Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He has several fractured cervical and thoracic vertebrae, a laceration to his spleen, and bilateral collapsed lungs. As I type this, he's intubated, in the ICU, and is being prepped for emergency surgery.
Jason, thankfully, had relatively minor injuries and has been discharged from the hospital.
This family has a long and trying road ahead of them, and like so many of us, they live paycheck-to-paycheck. Most of us can't even imagine the overwhelming agony of losing our child let alone having to navigate this tragedy alone while the love of your life fights for their life in a hospital bed.
To add the financial strain and worry about paying the hospital bills and your household bills in the months ahead - a responsibility that may now fall to some of the older boys - is unfathomable. This family should not have to concern themselves with money at this time.
I understand that, for many, times are tough and money is tight. But please, if you can find it in your heart to donate, no matter the amount, please do. Every little bit helps and God knows they need our help now.
Every dollar donated will help to pay for Michael's medical expenses and the family's household bills.
If you're the praying type, please pray for God to give this family strength and comfort and pray for Michael to pull through and a speedy recovery. If you're not the praying type, please keep them in your thoughts anyway.
And whether or not you can donate, please share this with others. Thank you.
