Hello, our team at the Nimea Kaya Healing Center is raising funds to help several families that are currently displaced from the extreme flooding in the Pucallpa, Ucayali Region of the Amazon.

Many of you that have come to Nimea Kaya know how special the Shipibo team is that works at our center. The homes of our shamans, Ercilia and Agusto, have over a meter of water inside. Agusto and Ercilia, along with 15 other family members, have been living under plastic tarps on a nearby property. We are currently trying to find a home they can temporarily rent until the waters subside, which will likely take a couple of months.

Maestro Cecilio also has 2 ft of water in his house, and he and his family are staying with other family nearby.

Hilda, who worked with us for well over a decade, is living on the second floor of her house. The first floor has close to a meter of water in it. Hilda cleaned the Maloca after ceremonies and was a huge help on our team for many years. Many of Hilda's family still currently work with us.

These people do not have easy access to bathrooms, clean water, transportation, etc. Their personal items such as mattresses, sofas, furniture, stoves, etc. are being destroyed by the water and moisture.

We are raising funds to help them repair the damage to their homes and to replace destroyed personal items. We are also helping support them with additional resources, such as canoes for transportation, food and financial assistance.

These beautiful people are trying their best to get through these hard times. They are still working here, leading ceremonies, and helping with maintaining our grounds while dealing with the impact of the flooding.
