I am thrilled to write you this letter about my upcoming trip to the Amazon. The Lord has provided the opportunity for me to be a part of a medical missions team. The trip is headed by Sean Lunday, the South America Director for Baptist International Missions, Inc. (BIMI). The team will consist of 35 to 40 people from around the United States. There will be several medical professionals on the trip to administer medical care. The remaining members of the team will help to run other aspects of the clinic and share the Gospel with those awaiting medical attention. We will be leaving from Miami, Florida on July 26, 2021 and flying to Leticia, Columbia. From Leticia, we will travel across the border into Brazil to the town of Tabatinga. We will stay there one night to prepare all the medical supplies and understand our jobs during the trip. The following day, we will load up several boats with the supplies and travel around 4 hours upriver to Puerto Nariño, Columbia. This small town will be our base from which we will leave and do day trips into small villages along the Amazon River. Our day trips will consist of setting up medical clinics and performing evangelistic outreach with the people in the villages. We will return August 5, 2021 having spent 10 days traveling up and down the Amazon sharing the Good News of God’s saving health. It will be an amazing opportunity to use the Spanish I have learned over the past six years while working in the Spanish ministry of Independent Baptist Church. The Lord has given to us different gifts, talents, and abilities to use for His honor and glory.

I ask that you would please join with us in prayer for this trip. Without prayer, our efforts will be in vain, and we will miss the opportunity to impact the lives of people who have never heard the Gospel of Christ. “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. (II Thessalonians 3:1)” The Amazon is a difficult land in which to minister, yet they too are souls which Christ died for. Pray for the free course of God’s Word. Pray for each member of the team who is responsible to raise $1590 for the trip which includes airfare, food and lodging during our stay. This does not include additional airfare to Miami, vaccinations, medication, travel insurance and any other incidentals. The total trip will range anywhere from $2000 to $3000 dollars per team member. We have one month to prepare the way in prayer.
