After Taran secured a sponsored job with Qantas in Sydney, Australia - the truly
amazing Barrington Family made the journey to Sydney from the UK in March
2019. Moving to make a new life with their 3 children, 2 dogs from one side of the world to the other. They have become part of our family since arriving and we are grateful to have met them.
When the Covid pandemic hit this year - Taran's company was one of the hardest hit in Australia.
Added to their uncertainty, Gina's employers went into administration and her
hours dramatically cut, which left them both on constant tenterhooks as to
whether they would remain employed and whether they would be able to reside
to gain permanent residency in Australia.
Devastatingly, Gina has recently been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She has
undergone 2 major operations and is now preparing for her next stage of
treatment, Chemotherapy. Being on a sponsored visa adds to their ongoing
uncertainty related to unforeseen medical services and associated treatment.
Gina’s work, which has already been impacted and is likely to be significantly
impacted further during the next 9 months whilst she receives treatment of
Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy. This will adversely affect her earnings as all
associated costs will grow.
Any funds received to support The Barrington family will go directly towards:
- General cost of living – unforeseen costs, fees (including School fees associated with not be residents – being on a visa requires them to pay for their 3 children
attend any type of school in Sydney) and expenses such as bills, rent and food.
Being an expat myself - I feel for them wholeheartedly - not having any family
close by to support them on the everyday needs during this challenging time.
With the international border restrictions in full force, family and friends from
overseas are unable to 'just jump on a flight' to come and help.
Any immediate support you can offer The Barrington family during this difficult
time would mean the world to them. Let's do what we can to help this beautiful
family get through the next 9 months with less pressure - so they can just focus on getting Gina back to full health.
