Support Amaya's Quest: From City to Equestrian Elite
Donation protected
Our story begins with one 6-year-old girl googling barn animal videos from her city townhouse in Maryland. Little Amaya was thoroughly entertained by watching Stephanie Moratto create fun, happy YouTube videos about barn life around her 49 farm animals. Ms. Moratto sparked Amaya's love of horses, leading Amaya to ask her parents, Monique and Uchendu, to ride these majestic creatures. Her dream became reality the following year when her father's work in the military relocated them to a small country-big city: Jacksonville, Florida. It was here that Amaya had full access to barns, trainers, and horses. Since 2019, Amaya has worked with horses, Hikey, Sassy, Sadie, and now Kassie through the Windemere Equestrian Center with trainer Joan Werner. Our little city girl, Amaya, has transformed into an elite English horse rider, practicing her equestrian craft by caring for and riding her adult mare, Kassie. Five days a week/two hours a day, Amaya's mom drives her to the barn to competitively train, ride, and care for Kassie, all while completing homework and attending classes at James Weldon Johnson College Preparatory in downtown Jacksonville and participating in the 4-H Windermere Riding Club.
Amaya was invited to compete for seven days this June 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the Youth World, a national show to prepare her for the spirit of equestrian competition in her English discipline. For Amaya to attend, several event fees and expenses related to the show will occur. We are asking for your help with these expenses so Amaya can achieve her goal of riding competitively.
