Amarjot’s Rainbow Fund

Never thought we’d be writing something like this but here we are…We are asking you to help support our sister’s Rainbow Fund

 

For those of you who know Amarjot well, you’ll be aware that she was diagnosed with cancer back in 2011. Amazingly, she recovered and we were all so grateful to have our sister back after lots of treatments and lots of tears.

 

2 weeks into lockdown when the world was going through a pandemic, Amarjot found out that the cancer had come back, diagnosed as Advanced Metastatic Breast Cancer in the liver and bones. The odds were against her, but for the past 2 years she has been on a journey of healing, and we (her family) have been doing everything in our power to help her - it’s been a rollercoaster to say the least!

After lots of research and advice from professionals on more specialist treatments for Amarjot’s cancer, she made the decision to access treatment via a specialist cancer clinic in Germany - she’s there now.

This meant pooling together £40,000 which she miraculously managed to do through personal savings and help from her family and friends to receive treatment. Unfortunately, she has been told by the consultants that the tumours in her liver are getting bigger (she’s named them Geronimo and the side kicks). She has been offered many treatments including one that targets chemo directly into the tumours and cuts off their blood supply as well as other treatments not accessible in the UK. It buys time for Amarjot to boost her immune system using the clinic’s therapies, so her body can start doing its own healing. 

Amarjot’s cancer is a secondary cancer which can also impact the type of treatment she receives in the UK. Her current options offered in the UK are full body generic chemo only. After her previous treatments and the difficulties/side effects of chemo the first the time round…she’s not sure her body can take it. That’s why the options and treatments in Germany could potentially be life changing for her… if she can afford it… here’s where we need another miracle!

It’s hard being away from Amarjot whilst she continues to receive treatment in Germany. If you have ever experienced a loved one go through something similar, you will know there are good days and there a bad days. And STILL, Amarjot remains in high spirits! She is a brave soul and that is inspiring!! Talking to her today..she just wants to be happy, healthy and time to laugh with her loved ones.

 

So much is going on in the world right now and the current climate means every penny counts.
