My name is Kendall, and my husband and I's daughter, Amara Magnolia, was born sleeping on November 21, 2023. I am starting a foundation, Amara’s Light, dedicated to helping others rediscover their light after the heartbreak of infant or pregnancy loss. This initial fundraiser will go toward the start-up costs of starting a nonprofit.
Losing a child is an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone, as it's not a community one willingly joins or wishes for others to comprehend. The harsh reality is that it happens every day, and the journey can be isolating. Yet, through spirituality, community, and art, we find solace daily, aspiring to share that peace with others.
Each day introduces a new set of emotions—anger, peace, love, or sadness. The crucial aspect is granting oneself grace, as grief is not a linear process and may extend for years or a lifetime.
“Grief is not a linear slide into darkness. It is a cyclical path that eventually rotates into light. Spring comes after the cold, harsh winter. Yes, there are seasons when grief is louder and more disruptive, but there are also seasons when grief backs off, your strength returns, and night turns into morning.” -Shelby Forsythia
