Amanda's Surgery and Recovery
Donation protected
My wife Amanda has been fighting a rare disease called MALS for the last 5 years. It is an incredibly painful disease that effects the nerves associated with your digestive system. 2 years ago after being on a tube feed we had the first surgery in Pittsburgh and failed miserably. Amanda continued to live with the pain while working full time as an oncology nurse at Shadyside and raising our wonderful 13 year old son Brayden. We recently got approved for surgery by one of the only true specialists of this rare disease. We are booked for a possibly life changing surgery in Connecticut with Dr. Hsu https://thevascularexperts.com/median-arcuate-ligament-syndrome/ on June 9th. Because it is out of network we will be taking on a great amount of the cost. We will be in Connecticut without income for a month plus travel expenses. Once home, Amanda faces a six month recovery before she is able to return to work full time. It may be a year to a year and a half before she is fully recovered. It is going to be a major hit to our family financially but will be well worth it when my beautiful wife doesn't have to live in pain anymore. Any little bit of help with this financial burden would mean the world to us and we would be eternally grateful. Thank you so much and please keep Amanda in your prayers.
