Amanda's Medical Recovery Fund

As many know, Amanda Russell had surgery early this summer to remove the remaining growing acoutstic neuroma brain tumor that was left from her primary surgery.  Since then, Amanda's experienced multiple complications.

First came the spinal fluid leak and a severe bacterial meningitis infection that almost took her life.  She was hospitalized for days and came home to multiple daily IV antibiotics to clear the infection.  Everything appeared to be in the clear, until recently.  On Wednesday October 5th, Amanda noticed some fluid dripping down her neck, it had a pinkish color to it.   Never in her wildest dreams did she think she would have spinal fluid leaking again after all this time. She immediately went to U of W as suggested by the doctors and was admitted, again.   The fluid was confirmed to be spinal fluid via a lumbar puncture and she spent two more nights in the hospital in observation with stitches in her head to try and seal the leak.

She had a follow up appointment in Seattle last week.  The results of that appointment were positive, yet discouraging at the same time.  The neuroma was confirmed fully excised. However, the team of neurosurgeons don't know why the leak is happening.  She was ordered to take a couple weeks off work, and if the leaking continues, she will need another brain surgery.

Amanda has stayed positive throughout this whole ordeal and is extremely grateful for the love and support her family and friends have given her.  Most of Amanda's surgery, complications, and ongoing urgent visits to UW happened during her off time from school as a teacher.
Amanda now needs to take time off work during the school year to recover and only has a few sick days to use up. We are raising funds for her to help with medical expenses, loss of income, and additional financial burden to the family.  Ultimately, we want to see Amanda fully recover and not worry about any addition financial burden.  This is especially important given the possibility of another surgery in the future.

Thank you for blessing Amanda and her family financially and supporting them in this way should you feel compelled.
As always, continued prayers are always needed.
