Amanda's Medical Bills Fund
Hi my name is Leonard William Maxwell, my friends call me Billy. I want to start out by telling you about my daughter, Amanda. Amanda is 12 going on 20 and is a funny, bright young lady who loves more than anything to draw anime. She's one of our bright stars and we couldn't imagine our lives without her.
Amanda was recently diagnosed in March, 2017 with Juvenile Diabetes, Type 1 and Grave’s Disease and spent 3 days at Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC. Our bill for those 3 long days at the hospital with my daughter was almost $47,000.00, a figure that is almost hard to comprehend.
It’s been an uphill battle for me and my family; my wife and youngest daughter, who is Amanda’s twin. Fate is playing a cruel trick on us by dealing these cards to Amanda as well as a financial burdenon the rest of the family. We are fortunate to have insurance but the insurance doesn’t cover everything, including the entire cost of some of the lifesaving medications Amanda needs on a daily basis to live.
It's embarrassing to have to put our story out here to friends and strangers alike in an effort to help us cope with the financial onslaught and help my daughter maintain a normal life. I thought it was going to be hard dealing with my daughter’s illness but it’s harder asking for help.
Everybody always asks me “let me know if there is anything I can do to help” well here it is. Please help us out and God bless and thank you.
