AMANDA’S FUNDRAISER

Help Amanda regain her independence - so she can return to work, care for her family. and even more importantly, so she will be able to get out of her house without assistance in the case of fire or another emergency.  At the age of 25, Amanda Cogan Morse had a job she loved and a very promising career. Then, after becoming severely ill, she was shockingly misdiagnosed with the fatal disease ALS (Lou Gehrig Disease). Eventually she was diagnosed with Late Stage Neurological LYME Disease mimicking ALS. Due to the delay in treatment, the infection caused another autoimmune disease C1DP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy). Amanda received extensive treatment which thankfully stopped the progression of the disease, but it was not able to repair the neurological damage that had already been done. Due to her illness, she has been disabled since 2005. She is now well enough to return to work part-time and she'd love to not have to rely on daily help from others. While she has been approved for assistance to obtain a handicapped-accessible van, she will be unable to make use of the van without a special motorized wheelchair and a ramp.
