On March 11, 2021, Amanda was on a walk in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle with her fiancee, Ian and her 6 month old German Shepherd, Aoife. Seattle has experienced an overwhelming problem with homelessness and people living on the streets. While passing a parked vehicle and trailer, they were surprised when a pitbull ran out after them. The pitbull was chained to the vehicle, but as they ran to escape from the dog, Aoife's front paw was broken and she had to go to the Emerald City Emergency Vet in Seattle for X-rays, a temporary cast, and pain medication. The next step after finding out her paw was broken is for Amanda to take her to Animal Surgical & Orthopedic Center in Shoreline, WA on Monday, March 15, 2021 for surgical repair of her paw. The ER costs in response to the attack totaled $1048.61. Surgical estimate is to cost between $4,000 - $6,000 with follow up charges for bandage changes estimated at $150-$250 per visit (times 2) with follow up X-rays totaling $500. (See attached surgical estimate). The overall total costs anticipated right now will be either $6,048.61 or $8048.61. This does not include other related expenses such as pain meds, and a much larger crate to accommodate her wearing a cone. Rehabilitation is anticipated to take at least 4 months and hopefully, the bones will mend and Aoife will be able to enjoy life as she knew it before this attack.

Hi Amanda.

This is a very rough estimate based only off of the radiographs that were taken at Emerald City.
Surgery could be $4000-$6000. Aoife will be in a splint after surgery; bandage changes are $150-$250 each (probably two times) and radiographs at 4 weeks and 8 weeks post-op are $250 each time.
