Amanda's Battle: Tumor and Memory Loss
Donation protected
This is my best friend Amanda. She started having seizures back in March 2025, and an MRI was done in May, which resulted in her neurologist finding a cyst in her brain. She had surgery scheduled for the end of July. However, on Sunday, June 22nd, she had another seizure, this one pretty strong, so her husband called 911. While in the ER, she had another seizure. She was admitted to the hospital and ended up having her surgery on Wednesday, June 25th. They were able to remove the whole cyst; however, it was found that this cyst was actually a tumor, which was sent off to Mayo Clinic for pathology. We are still waiting on the results. Unfortunately, since the surgery, Amanda has lost all short-term memory. She had started a new job at the U of I in August of 2024 and therefore does not yet qualify for FMLA. She is at risk of losing her job, which means she will also lose her healthcare benefits.
Today, Amanda went to a scheduled doctor's appointment, and it was found that she is now also losing her long-term memory. With the risk of losing her job and healthcare, we are asking for donations to help her and her husband Fred during this difficult time. Trying to navigate all of this is putting a heavy weight on Fred’s shoulders. Please consider helping out if you can.
