On Saturday 9/19, Amanda was in a severe accident, which inflicted multiple facial and upper extremity injuries.

Her first jaw surgery was successful and we are grateful for the incredible care she has been receiving. However, we are currently at a difficult juncture in her recovery as Amanda has to have more surgeries that require specialists not covered by her insurance. Moreover, with her job as a behavior technician, primarily working with elementary school children with autism, needs to take unpaid leave to recover. This will have repercussions on her ability to afford necessary long-term medical care and also to the children under her guidance at work. Similarly, her mother, an independent contractor, will also be taking unpaid time off to give her required round-the-clock care. She is currently at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, CA.
