Amanda's guillain-barré syndrome recovery.

On Sunday December 29th my wife Amanda was diagnosed with guillain-barré syndrome.  It is an exceptionally rare illness that attacks your nervous system.

Amanda is currently in ICU receiving treatment and will be here for at least a week. After that, she will be moved to a rehab hospital until she can show signs of self care.  Once that is proven, she can come home but will have out patient physical therapy until she recovers.

It is hopefully fully recoverable at an 80% rate, but she faces weeks, months and possibly years of hospital stays, physical therapy and recovery.

Until then, I will be staying with her at the hospital and will have help from family on care  of our child, Abby, and our home.

During this time, of course she will not be working and I will be working as it allows depending on her health.

This obviously will be a gigantic drain on our finances.  If you have a few spare cents, anything will help.  We do have insurance, but the deductible and portion we will be liable for will amount to 10's of thousands of dollars, possibly more.

Nothing can prepare a family for a blow like this, I appreciate any help and hope you all good health in this new year.
