Amanda's Crayons for Kids

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Amanda! When I was about to turn 10, I began experiencing a lot of sudden weakness throughout my whole body; weakness that no 10 year-old should have. From there, I was in and out of the hospital, and it was a scary and confusing time for both myself and my parents. Finally, at age 11, I was diagnosed with juvenile dermatomyositis, a rare form of muscular dystrophy in children.  Thankfully, the brilliant doctors on my case at Seattle Children's Hospital were able to cure me within a year, and at age 12, I was a happy healthy kid again. For my 12th birthday I asked my parents to help me collect donations for Seattle Children's instead of birthday gifts, because I wanted to give back to the place that saved my life. I was so happy to be able to give them a check for $1,090 that year.

Getting my strength back was the greatest gift I could have ever asked for, and as I begin to celebrate my birthday this year, I also get to celebrate ten years of perfect health! This definitely calls for another fundraiser - and this time, we're going to do it BIG! For my 22nd birthday, I am once again collecting donations for Seattle Children's Hospital!

These funds will be used to purchase Crayola products for patients at Children's - crayons, markers, colored pencils, modeling clay...the list goes on! My goal is $1,100 because it is $10 more than what I was able to give ten years ago. I'd love to beat it by a mile!

I am hoping this fundraiser will help brighten the days of the strong,  young patients that are fighting such difficult battles.  Thank you so much for your support - I appreciate it more than you could ever imagine! God bless.
