Fellow Cubes, Amanda Wilson's home was affected by the fires in La Mision, Baja California. Her home and property received significant damage. She damaged her truck when evacuating her dogs from her home at 1:15am on October 25th after spending more than 14 hours assisting others in her community evacuate people, horses and helping get basic tools, water, and supplies to the local ranchers and under equipped volunteer firefighters. She took in 20 horses at her ranch providing shelter, food, and water until they could safely return home. Some spending days there and 3 that are indefinitely displaced but can call her ranch home.
All 4 of her dogs received medical attention with one spending 2 days in the veterinarian for respiratory issues and infection. She went 4 days without electricity or water and lost all her food but in all this, she feels lucky because many of her neighbors houses were a complete loss.
Amanda has a small working ranch in La Mision and several of her ranch hands lost their personal corrals, feed, and property. The cowboys she supports for rodeo competition, spent 8 days fighting blazes from Ensenada to Rosarito. She has worked tirelessly helping those less fortunate during this tragedy, collecting and delivering donations of food, water, clothing, and medical and personal hygiene items. She is working with Pup-N-Boots Rescue to raise funds for local ranchers who have lost all their food and grazing land to buy alfalfa, feed, and portable water tanks.
La Mision is a small agricultural community nestled in a valley between Rosarito and Ensenada. Thousands of acres of farm and grazing land and over 30 homes have been completely destroyed.
We would like to help Amanda with some of her personal repairs and assist her in continuing to assist those in her community.
