Amanda Tevis and Josh Wettig Needs help for Beaowolf
Donation protected
My name is Amanda Tevis. I am not one to ask for help. I am usually the one to offer. This time I have to put my humility aside and reach out to those of you who understand. Beaowolf needs help.
I first met Beaowolf at the end of October, and he was in poor condition and neglect. The person who had him did no wrong and had no bad interests for his welfare but was in over his head. I am grateful I was given the opportunity to help this dog. This is not a naïve event. I’ve had 25 years of experience in giant breeds, owned many, fostered many, and Danes are my love.
Since his adoption, he has finally come out of his shell, begun playing with my other Dane, gained weight, and was beginning to enjoy life.
This week, suddenly and sadly, the tables turned again. He bloated. I, despite the storm, took him to Metropolitan Veterinary Services. It was a grave diagnosis with a substantial expense. Looking into his young, 2 ½-year-old eyes and knowing his recent budding sense of life, we had no choice but to approve surgery to save it. It was a long winter’s night.
After a partial retraction of his stomach, his spleen became critical, and he lost two liters of blood. He has gone through two blood transfusions after the bleed was repaired in the second surgery. It was touch and go.
Today he is starting to rally. It actually was more than touch and go. But he’s young, he’s wonderful, and there is hope in his eyes again. I will never regret the decision to take him in or the decision to give him this chance. I humbly ask for any help from anyone that can donate to his cause. I do not want to see him gone when he just started wanting to live. In return, I will continue to be dedicated to the welfare of all animals and offer what I have in return.
