So most of you already know my story. I was diagnosed in October 2019 with stage 2 Neuroendocrine Small Cell Lung Cancer. In December 2019 I finished 30 radiation treatments, I went twice a day for 15 days. I finished six cycles of chemotherapy which were 3 days a week every 3 weeks in the end of February, beginning of March 2020. COVID took effect with the shut downs and began March 16th, so with my low immune system I was unable to return back to work at the clinic. Finally I was slowly starting to get energy back, my taste was somewhat returning to normal, and I had baby hairs making my hair stick out like I had just been laying on a trampoline when I was 10. After not working for for 10 months, I was FINALLY able to return to work on August 3rd 2020. It was amazing! I loved getting up every morning knowing that everyday I was making a difference in my patients lives by being their best advocate. I missed drawing blood, starting IVs, doing EKGs, and most of all assisting in procedures. I missed my patients, and they were all so happy to see me back. A few months went buy and I was slowly able to start exercising, and having enough energy to go do things with friends and family. Feeling like my life was becoming more normal. Then probably end of January it started getting harder to get out of bed in the morning, I was becoming very fatigued and getting through the day was becoming a chore. I would make excuses and tell people I was busy or already had plans, I was sleeping WAY more, daily naps became a must, along with being in bed before 9pm. My next 3 month check up and surveillance CT was February 12th 2021. That CT showed that my left hilar lymph node/mass was larger. Was then scheduled for another PET scan, scheduled for an appointment with a thoracic surgeon, pulmonologist, and for a bronchoscope to biopsy the mass, and I followed up with my oncologist the following week. April 2nd I was told my biopsy came back as a Neuroendocrine tumor and my cancer was back. They then referred me to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for a second opinion for treatment, and or surgery. Come to find out that they are out of network with my insurance, and now I’m currently waiting to hear back from Huntsman Cancer Institute - University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Thank you all so much for your prayers, love, and support. Love, Amanda
