Amanda - post accident
November 20, 2020 —
Started like any other day; and ended in a
mother’s worst nightmare. As I was headed
into work, I received a call that Amanda had
been in a horrific car accident, and the EMTs
were not sure if she would make it. Amanda
was unconscious for a period of time, and
ended up needing to be extricated from car.
She was lights and sirens to the trauma bay at CRMC. When I arrived at the ER I waited for
the most agonizing several minutes I have
ever had to endure...is my child alive? When I was finally able to see her, my eyes (and hers) was flooded with tears. I was happy she was
alive; the healing process would begin.
Amanda spent 3.5 days in the hospital under
the care of the amazing trauma team. And, she
required her collarbone to be surgically
repaired.
Amanda suffered:
Broken collarbone
Closed head injury
Seatbelt trauma, and abdominal hematomas
(and a few other injuries)
11/23/2020 — I picked up my sweet Amanda, and became her caregiver for 3 weeks. While my heart was breaking inside, I helped care
for Amanda to the best I could. Exhaustion
was the definition of those 3 weeks BUT
Amanda means the world to me, and I would
sacrifice anything for her well-being. The
physical healing process is ongoing, which is tobe expected. But the emotional toll it’s taking on Amanda is huge. Amanda essentially lost
everything she owned (aside from some clothes and a few other items that were salvaged) in the accident, and as a result, we are dealing with a huge financial burden.
Creating this fundraiser has forced me to completely humble myself as I have never done something like this before. But, seeing what Amanda has suffered and lost, I prayed about this
several times, and feel God prompted me now
to put this out there and fully rely on him. We have to still pay on the car, we have $17,000 inmedical bills and rising, lost work wages for Amanda (she wants to get back to work as soon as possible), and trying to replace what we canthat she lost from clothes to computer.
If you feel led to donate to help ease these burdens for Amanda, Larry, and I, we would humbly and graciously accept any assistance. And, if unable to donate, that’s ok, as well. Please continue to lift Amanda up in prayer. It is truly a miracle she survived, and I believe God has great plans for her and that she will persevere.
Sincerely,
Anne and Larry
