Amanda Palazzo Memorial Talk

Anyone who has had the pleasure of knowing Amanda knows what a loving, kind and generous person she is.  Always vibrant, upbeat and concerned about helping others, the rock of her family, Her husband Kevin and she have spent the entire 27 years of their married life volunteering to help people learn about God, serving in other countries and volunteering in rebuilding work after natural disasters while taking care of their necessary everyday needs along with also caring for her elderly parents for many years. They have forgone “luxuries” in order to keep their lives simple to do more for others. Now is our turn to help her.

Amanda’s journey began four weeks ago when she started saying her back was hurting her.  Not one to complain she just dealt with it, doing some things to help with what she thought was a strained back.  Finally, last Thursday after having to sleep sitting up and feeling like she could not take any breathe, she was admitted to the hospital with what they first thought was COVID-19.  That  would have been preferable to what they have found.

After x-rays and scans they found that she has pleural effusion, a buildup of fluid behind her lungs.  Hers was so bad that it was literally “crushing” her lung.  After taking out a lot of fluid (she has much more still) they had to stop in order to allow her lung to expand again and to try to prevent it from totally collapsing.

Unfortunately, after some fluid was removed, they were able to get clearer pictures and saw that there is a mass in her lung.  Although we do not have a diagnosis just yet the medical bills getting to this point will be coming in.

Because of them keeping their lives simple to be able to serve others, it unfortunately meant that they do not have the medical insurance needed to help with such an issue as this.  Amanda will be in the hospital for quite a while and dependent on the final diagnoses will likely need major medical treatment.

Amanda has never been in the hospital, is understandably scared and for the first time in their 27 years of marriage is separated from her husband Kevin as he is not allowed into the hospital due to COVID.  He initially was staying in the hospital parking lot in order to be “close” to her and they are communicating via Facetime as much as they can.

We thank you for your prayers along with any financial support you can give for such a deserving couple. All donated funds will be used for medical bills, treatments and the associated costs i.e. gas for transportation, doctors, etc.
