Miss Amanda Mortley... Everyone who knows Amanda would know that she is stubborn, straightfoward and a very honest person. But shes also very strong willed, smart and has the absolute biggest heart! I personally have never had a boring day when Amanda is in it. And i think we can all agree that she definitely makes all our lives alot more interesting. She has taught me how wonderful it is to be independent, to believe in myself and she has told me so much about her life that helped me get through some tough parts of mine. I know that all of you have somewhat been helped my amanda and now I am asking all of you to help her.
Ebonys story: "10 weeks ago, Amanda and I were involved in a terrible accident. We were driving up south west hwy after a beautiful ride down in dwellingup (which Amandas been trying to get me do for months!) When some one pulled onto our side of the road and started to head towards us. Amanda was infront and was left with no choice but for her to take the impact. I managed to pull away safely but I knew from the speed and impact of the hit, there was nothing i could do. Amanda was still consious (thank god!) And I did everything I could to make sure she was comfortable and safe untill the emergency services arrived. I have never seen so much support, as multiple people did everything they could to help Amanda. I could go into detail about what happened but thats not why I am telling you my story. I want everyone to know that Amanda Mortley saved my life. If the accident didnt happen the way it did, neither of us would be here today. I cannot thank her enough for what she has done. The trauma would have destroyed me if she wasnt such an inspiration. Her strength, love and will is absolutley amazing. And even though I will never repay her, I am asking for your help so we can give her an amazing future because its what she deserves. I also want to thank Gregg Alvarez (amandas fiance) for being by amandas side every step of the way. Gregg is an amazing person and i couldnt think of anyone better for such a wonderful girl. For the people that know Amanda and the ones who dont, there is so much you can do for her, to make such a positive impact on her life".
Amanda's story: "I wanted to tell all my friends what has happened. I was riding on the south western highway when a car pulled onto my side of the road coming toward me at 110km/h. I tried to manoeuvre around it and succeeded enough to prevent myself from dying but the car hit my left leg and it has been amputated above the knee and I have two broken wrists. The police have told me that if I was even 1 foot over I would have died and I lost 4L of blood at the site so I'm very thankful that I'm still alive. In a few weeks I begin rehab and after that I will get a temporary prosthetic leg. I want to thank everyone for their well wishes and the flowers it means so much to me to have so much support behind my recovery. I also need to thank Ebony for she helped me through the time I was lying on the side of the road conscious and in a lot of pain. I wouldn't have lived if it weren't for her strength and courage".
"My time in hospital has been a learning experience for me. Some days are really hard, I get frustrated that I'm not independent anymore, I don't get much privacy, I miss my beautiful dog and I won't get to spend 3 months in America mid year with my fiancé. Most days I am just thankful for everything I still have, I'll still walk again, I'm still marrying a man who has never faltered on his love and commitment to me, I'm alive and I have an amazing support network through my friends and family. Ive just started learning to walk again and it's hard, it's painful but it's also wonderful. We all have our ups and downs, our struggles... mine are just a little different to what they used to be. Thank you to everyone for your love and support, it keeps me going on the days I doubt myself".
It has been very difficuly for Amanda and myself to open up to everyone and ask for your help. But I am hoping to raise enough money so that Amanda can overcome this and be able to live her life just as she would of before the accident, and with all of your help, she can!
