Amanda May needs our help!

UPDATE: Amanda was released from the hospital yesterday, 3/7/24. She will not be able to return to work for at least two weeks, while she continues Wound Care and healing. Thank you for all of your support and prayers! Phase one complete, now time for recovery <3

She was admitted to Texas Health Harris Downtown more than a week ago and will likely be there for a while longer. The doctors are struggling to find the right treatment for the infection in her leg that has been resistant to any of the 12 different antibiotics they have tried so far. They have brought in an Infectious Disease Specialist in hopes that they will have something in their arsenal to slow this superbug. She will remain in the hospital until they can find something that works.

This horrible infection will require her to rest and heal for much longer than expected. Once discharged, she will still have a long recovery ahead of her, likely including physical therapy. With the doctors still working to stop the infection, we will not know just how long that recovery time will be. Unfortunately, she has already used all of her paid time off from work and every day going forward will be unpaid.

As the General Manager of the Joshua Dairy Queen, Amanda has been active in the Chamber of Commerce and local schools, hosted many fundraisers, and helped so many people in the community. Now she needs our help. Amanda is an incredibly independent mom and manager, as well as a pillar of the community and absolutely hates to ask for help, so her friends and family are making this plea for her. We ask that you search your heart and consider giving what you can to help our wonderful and caring friend through this difficult time. Any little bit will help to cover the gap and help with medical bills.
