Amanda "Mandie" Burgess

Hi, my name is Kimberly Burgess, Amanda’s little sister. Yesterday, I received the phone call that I was dreading, the phone call that Mandie was gone. When you love someone that struggles with addiction you know there’s always a possibility that you’ll get that phone call but you’ll never truly be prepared for it, no matter how hard you try to prepare yourself. Those that knew Amanda “Mandie”, knew how much she loved and cared for everyone. She loved her family so much and we loved her. She was such a beautiful person, inside and out and had the most beautiful smile. I want Amanda to be remembered that way, not by the addiction because that wasn’t her.. it just had a tight grip on her. Her mother fought so hard, day and night to try and get Amanda the help she desperately needed, unfortunately the system failed her. The process to get help for your loved one with addiction and mental health needs to be changed and I promise to get justice for Amanda and I hope that other families do not have to endure what we have been through. No matter how much you try to prepare for the medical and funeral expenses, you are never prepared. To help take the burden off of Amanda’s mama, I decided to make this account to help with any expenses she will have and to give Amanda the farewell that she deserves.
