We’re setting up this GoFundMe to support our friend Amanda and her dog, Izzy (better known as Poppa)! Izzy is currently in critical condition after suffering a severe heat stroke on August 6th.

Unfortunately, while Amanda was at work Izzy was accidentally left outside by someone who had let him out to use the restroom and forgot to bring him back in. When Amanda returned home, she found Izzy collapsed and unable to move. His body temperature had reached a dangerous 109°F. He was rushed to the nearest vet, where he was sedated, placed on oxygen in efforts to stabilize him before being transported by ambulance to a specialty emergency center better equipped to handle the severity of his condition.

Initial concerns included potential kidney and liver damage. As of the morning of August 7th, Izzy remains in critical condition and is being closely monitored in the ICU. He’s currently in an oxygen kennel, and his medical team is working to stabilize his body temperature, which has now dropped too low following the heat stroke. His latest blood work shows elevated kidney levels, likely due to dehydration, but thankfully, his liver results have returned to normal.

We’re heartbroken for our friend, who is doing everything she can for her boy. Emergency vet care comes at a high cost, and we know she didn’t expect to be in this situation. Amanda is truly the definition of an animal lover, anyone who knows her knows how deeply she loves and cares for her pets. She will do whatever is in her power to help them and is exhausting every effort, emotionally and financially, to make sure Izzy gets the care he needs. This fundraiser is simply a way for those who know and love her (and Izzy) to lend support and help ease the financial burden during an already incredibly stressful time.
