Dear family, friends, and community:
Recently, almost a week and a half ago, Amanda suddenly began having a variety of symptoms which rapidly changed. She had sudden severe Vertigo, she found she could not hear out of her left ear and at one point woke up with weakness on her left side and slurred speech (which thankfully went away). She has had several trips to the hospital and urgent care last week as well as different diagnosis. The vertigo is debilitating to the point that she cannot move enough to complete basic daily activities of living such as dress, shower, made meals, etc.
The most recent visits/tests/treatments were with ENT specialists and audiologist who have confirmed that there is nerve damage and subsequent hearing loss in her left ear. The specialist performed an uncomfortable injection into her ear & to the nerves beyond her eardrum with a heavy duty dose of steroid (she has also been taking that in pill form). This is in hopes of alleviating inflammation that may be affecting the vertigo. They will try another shot later if necessary and if that is not working she will need to go to Pittsburgh to see another specialist neurotologist). Even at this stage she will possibly be out of work with debilitating problem for minimum of 4 more weeks. The doctors could not believe how severe the vertigo was so they did not hesitate this week to start the injections and medications.
You can read more about Amanda on her Facebook post I have added. This is all presumably caused by a virus and we are still at a loss as to how it could happen out of nowhere. Unfortunately the story is not just about Amanda's medical condition, but also the whole family and their finances. She had just returned to her Nursing position after being off on unpaid medical leave related to the birth of their newest daughter. God has graciously provided during that time in many ways, however; she was only back to work a few weeks when this illness occurred and has lost income and will continue to lose income for at least 4 or more weeks. When she returns to work she will have to wait 2 more weeks beyond that for a paycheck....if her nursing job is able to hold her position! And right before the illness they had to have their only car in for various repairs of which they do not know how they be able to take care at this point.
I am again, asking for prayers for the entire family. Her husband Bob has been taking care of her along with their 3 Month old and 2 other children. Asking for prayers that Amanda gets total relief from the acute Vertigo and healing in every way!
Asking for any donation in any amount to help them get through. Thank you in advance for your love and kindness and help in any way.
