Ellie Knapp Funeral expenses
Donation protected
I am starting this go fund me for my cousins Allen and Amanda. Recently their babygirl Eleanor was welcomed home to heaven on July 2, 2019. This has been a very rough time for our family, but those two have been so strong in this time of such tragedy. I would like to do as much as I can to come together as a community to help with funeral expenses for the couple. These two are such amazing people, and are two of the strongest I’ve ever met. All donations will go to the family & are greatly appreciated. Ellie’s story will be below. Thankyou to all and god bless.
Ellie’s story
Written By: Allen Knapp
On Sunday June 31st our baby girl was taken to the hospital. That evening Amanda fed her and burped her and played with her before laying her down for a nap. A little while later Amanda went to check on her and found her unresponsive. We called 911 right away and an amazing team of first responders came and took her to the ER. They were able to get her heart beating again and got her transferred by life flight to St. Vincent hospital. While we were there it was a constant battle to keep her vitals stable. The Drs. told us that with the amount of time between when we found her and when they got her heart going again there would be brain damage to an unknown extent. We continued keeping her going until we could find out the extent of the damage. Wendesday we were told that our daughter was brain dead and would never be able to function without machines keeping her going. We opted at that time to proceed with organ donation. By doing that Ellie got to save other baby's lives and got to be a hero to other baby's and their families.
They found out that the cause of death was a bacterial infection that worked it's way to her blood stream then to her brain causing her organs to shut down during her nap.
There will be a showing Monday July 8th from 10:00am-12:00pm with a service starting at 12:00pm. We want this to be a celebration of Ellie's life! We ask that people dont wear the typical black funeral attire, instead we ask that everyone dresses comfortably in colorful attire.
We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone involved. The deputy that was first on scene, the first responders that transported her and got her heart beating again, the staff at Mercy Er, the life flight crew who got Ellie to St. Vincent's hospital, all of the Drs, nurses, specialists, and staff of St. Vincent's pediatric intensive care unit, life connections, and our friends and family through this difficult time. Words can not describe how much we appreciate everything that everyone involved did to help Ellie and ourselves.
