Amalya's Healing: Friends & Family Standing Together
Donation protected
Thank you for visiting this GoFundMe page for Amalya's cancer treatments and the family's overall well-being. Eva and I met many years ago and became good friends. In that time, her daughter Amalya and my son Sebastian have forged a close friendship of their own. Sadly, Amalya has recently been diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a potentially life-threatening pediatric cancer. While we're all stunned by this news, Chris, Sebastian and I are certain that she will beat this, thanks in no small part to all the support that we (and you) will provide to her and the family. Please consider giving any amount you can for Amalya's treatments, Eva's lost wages and Liv's sense of normalcy. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your donation!
On Tuesday, November 19th, Amalya Brianne Levy had a biopsy done on a tumor she developed on her left hip. On Tuesday, November 26th, at the age of 12, the Doctor confirmed the tumor is indeed malignant - diagnosing it as Ewing Sarcoma cancer. He explained that she will undergo chemotherapy and eventual surgery to remove the tumor. She will spend five days in the hospital to receive chemotherapy and other medication. She will then go home for a week, spending one night in the hospital to receive another medication. And then, go back for another five days. This schedule will last about seven months. At this time, luckily, the pet scan and the CT scan show the cancer confined only to the tumor.
As they embark on this journey they are staying positive, praying and meditating. Their outlook is that this will come to pass and that she will conquer cancer and be triumphant.
Eva shares: "Our outlook on life is that we face challenges to overcome them and grow as a person. This is happening in her body, but it is happening for her to learn something new and maybe even help others with her experience. We are here to be of support for her, physically, mentally and emotionally and to hold her hand while she goes through it and comes out victorious. It takes a village and to all my friends and family that have reached out and sent their love and prayers from different parts of the world as well as the US and Florida my most sincere gratitude. Thank you for being there for her. I pray every day to God/Universe bless you all 10 times more than you have blessed her with your positive and love vibrations."
About Ewing Sarcoma cancer: Ewing Sarcoma cancer is a rare cancer found mainly in children and young adults ages 5 through 18 years old, while their bones are growing rapidly. It is a nonhereditary type of cancer that begins as a growth of cells in the bones and the soft tissue around the bones. In Amalya's case it manifested in her left hip. Ewing Sarcoma is an abnormal gene that can be detected with DNA testing, it is not known why the translocation occurs. Scientists know that a genetic mutation or change turns normal cells into Ewing Sarcoma cells. These cells multiply and create cancerous tumors. They do not know what triggers the mutation, but they do know the changes happen after birth, meaning that biological parents do not pass the genetic mutation.
If you are unable to donate, we kindly ask that you share her story and keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
