Amalie's Avengers

Donation protected

The last few months have been a challenging time for most of us during the COVID pandemic but for some it’s been much worse.

A few weeks ago the very beautiful little Amalie Jae Harkins who has recently turned two was diagnosed with a Malignant Rhabdoid Tumour in her kidney. This has come as a huge shock to her family and this type of tumour is not easy to treat and is aggressive.

We have known the family for the last five years and our daughter Evie has been best friends and inseparable with Ezmaé, Amalie’s sister. Not only did they become friends but so did the parents! As families we spend time together and we have grown to love them and feel like they are now are extended family.

Amalie now faces several months of chemotherapy and possibly radiotherapy depending on how effective the chemotherapy is. She will also be having her kidney removed in the next few weeks.

She is currently spending most of her time at Manchester children’s hospital with her mum Jodie and already she is experiencing the awful side effects of chemo.

The Harkins/Flemings family mean a great deal to us and they are a beautiful family. Amalie has three siblings who adore her and are having to come to terms with the diagnosis and spend most of their time away from their amazing mum Jodie. Despite such terrible news Gaz and Jodie are somehow finding the strength and courage to carry on and continue to be the most amazing parents to all four of their children.

We are organising a sponsored walk of the Guild Wheel on 11th October 2020; this is 21 miles in total, and we have a mixture of children from as young 7 up to adults of 50+.

The aim is to raise funds for the family to support them through treatment and the many extended hospital stays.  But also, to give them the means to plan a special trip as a family and to give them something to look forward to.

If I could take this away from them I would do in a heartbeat, however I can’t, so I ask my wonderful family and friends to help me to support this family we love and care dearly for to raise as much money as we can. If you cannot commit to a donation then anything to support the family would be welcomed.

Thankyou in advance for any contributions or offers of help.

It means the world.

Amalies update- we have hit the £8000
mark which never did we expect to!
Amalie is amazing and
is responding well to treatment and has
had her kidney out. She’s been amazing
and has showed such strength and
resilience.

She continues to receive gruelling
chemotherapy and is soon to start
radiotherapy. Amalies mummy has also
been made redundant whilst In the midst of all this so this fund is even more
important now. The family are going
through so much but continue to find
strength and carry on.
We have completed the walk and we are
now running a raffle ! There are lots of
amazing prizes to be won.

we are in the most difficult times ever
financially so all the contributions from
everyone and the
prizes from local businesses have been
amazing.

A huge Thankyou to everyone who
walked with us and Amalies Avengers!
please help us to give Amalie and her
family a Christmas to remember

Thankyou and please keep supporting us! ❤️
