Amalie's Prosthetic Fund
Donation protected
In October of 2023 Amalie was admitted to the emergency room for what was thought to be a bowel obstruction. 4 hours later she went into septic shock from a tear in her intestine
After 23 days in a coma, 24 IV lines, weeks of dialysis, a ventilator, and 2 surgeries she became a sepsis survivor
Unfortunately her hands and feet lost circulation for too long and would need to be amputated. They removed mid forearm down on both arms and mid-shin down on both legs in November 2023
Amalie was now a crohns survivor, sepsis survivor, and a quad amputee at the age of 18
Amalie has done a lot of healing over the past year as she learns to take back her independence. She has relearned how to walk on her prosthetic legs, how to do her make up with universal cuffs, and can move around the house completely unaided
She has been an inspiration and a fighter through out this entire time and has taken on every new challenge with determination and grace
We need some assistance with the next step in her healing journey
Prosthetics are expensive and in order for her to receive her permanent leg prosthetics and her arm prosthetics, they need to be paid in full
The iLimb Quantum arm prosthetics will total $400,000 for both. Thankfully insurance will cover most of the hardware expenses and we are only responsible for the remaining balance of $100,000
The leg prosthetics are also thankfully covered by insurance and we will owe $10-30,000 once the style has been picked and molded for her
These prosthetics will further her ability to be independent, give her more freedom to leave the house more regularly, and feel confident in herself
Amalie has so much more life to live and getting her prosthetics will help her regain some sense of normality in her new lifestyle
We love and appreciate you all, we couldn't have asked for a better community and your support means so much to us
