Hi Friends and Family,
I have been nominated by my middle school to represent my 7th grade class at the Junior National Young Leaders Conference this summer in Washington, D.C. The conference is from June 19th to June 26th. The program will teach me more about how to become a better leader by setting clear goals, improving communication skills, embracing models for solving complex problems and building effective teams. My peers (from middle schools across the country) and I will gain confidence and practice our teamwork and public speaking skills when we create our own student-led grass roots organizations in the Voices of Change project. I will also set goals for continued personal leadership improvement and return home equipped with the tools to tackle current issues facing my school and community today.
During our eight day stay, Washington, D.C. will serve as our living classroom as we explore the various museums and memorials and enjoy an exclusive Capital Hill experience, during which we visit the House Floor and hear from a former member of Congress. The keynote speaker for the conference will be Anthony Robles. Born with one leg, Anthony defied the odds to become a three-time all-American wrestler and the 2011 NCAA National Wrestling Champion. Other prominent individuals that we will get the chance to meet and hear from during our stay are Al Gore, General Colin Powell, Mitt Romney, Spike Lee, Jesse Jackson and many more.
Expenses covered will include my conference registration, my entire week of hotel stay, all conference meals and a private motor coach for the week. My mom spends a ton on my current academics and traveling with me for Track and Field and Soccer, so I wanted to setup this Go Fund Me to assist with this leadership conference and the fees associated for me to attend.
I have been a straight A student since kindergarten and work very hard in school and sports to take the initial steps for success in high school, college and my future career.
