Alyvia May Powers
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Spencer Randall, I appreciate you taking the time to read this message on behalf of me and my family. I hold a very special title in my family and that is being Alyvia May’s Auntie. Since she was a baby, my parents have been caring for Alyvia. Unfortunately, a few years ago Alyvia fell severely ill, and our journey led us to Sick Kids hospital, where she was diagnosed with Aplastic Anaemia in 2018.
What is Aplastic Anemia?
It is a rare and serious blood condition where the bone marrow fails to produce enough new blood cells for the body to function properly. This leaves Alyvia vulnerable to infection and illnesses.
The only “cure” for Alyvia’s condition is a stem cell bone marrow transplant.
Alyvia has received a transplant and was in 5 year remission, however she has fallen ill again and it is likely she will need another one. At this time, Alyvia undergoes 2 to 3 transfusions per week to sustain her health. Additionally, she’s being treated for ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura) disease, which has developed as a secondary condition to her Aplastic Anemia - this further complicates her medical needs and requires specialized care and treatment.
Our medical team at Sick Kids Hospital is exploring various treatment options, including Immunotherapy as an alternative if the current treatment plan does not meet the desired results.
The silver lining in the news of Alyvia‘s current situation is that she does not have cancer. This gives us a renewed sense hope and strengthens our commitment to providing her with the best possible care imaginable.
This does, however, leave our family in financial hardship due to the frequent amount of medical treatments, hospital stays, medication’s, full-time living at Ronald McDonald house and ongoing care, which is overwhelming. I’m creating this go fund me page to humbly ask for support in helping us provide Alyvia with the best possible care.
Your donations will go directly towards covering the costs of medical expenses, specialize treatments, necessary medication‘s, and any additional support services Alyvia might require through her journey. We appreciate any amount you can contribute as every dollar brings us closer to giving Alyvia a fighting chance at a healthy life.
In closing, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your support, love, kindness and care. The messages, texts and uplifted spirits have given us strength during this challenging time. We are especially grateful to our donors who are undergoing testing to determine bone marrow matches, and to those who have selflessly donated blood. Your generosity and compassion gives us hope, and reminds us that we are not alone in our journey.
With immense love and thankfulness,
Our Whole Kirby-Randall Family
