In September 2021, I had medically necessary double-jaw surgery for my under-bite, which caused many health, chewing, and speaking issues. After the surgery, I had some complications with healing of my upper jaw. Part of this surgery involved making a cut in the upper jaw in order to move/tilt it into the correct postion. Where the cut was made did not heal correctly and caused me to have a (non-union) a fracture that is at least 9 months old and has not shown any signs of healing for 3 consecutive months.
My surgeon was aware of this issue and back in April 2022, I went in for a second surgery to correct this problem. I was supposed to get a bone graft and new plate hardware put into my upper jaw, but my surgeon decided in the operating room, that he did not think this was necessary to do a bone graft or add new hardware, beacause he believed the non-union was healed and there was no movement to my jaw.
It is now 3 months after the second surgery and I am still having movement in my upper jaw. I decided to get a second opinion. The new surgeon found that I do in fact, still have a non-union and need revision surgery as soon as possible.
I now have to do this surgery for a 3rd time, however, the new surgeon is an out-of-network doctor. He is one of the number one surgeons in the country for this type of surgery and I want to go with the best possible doctor to fix this problem. The office has worked with my insurance to try and get the procedure covered, however, they will only cover less than half the amount of the operation. The total costs for this surgery is about $45,000, which leads me having to cover the other half (22,500). This is not including any other fees that might come up afterwards.
The last thing I want to do after going through this awful time is ask for money, but I clearly need any help I can get. If you are willing to donate, anything helps and I will appreciate your contribution more than you know.
Thank you so much, and please share so I can finally get back to normal!
