Alyssa's Journey: Heart & Kidney Transplants

Donation protected
My name is Kendall Ceban and I am starting this gofundme for my dear friend, Alyssa (Goodrow) Davis.

In December of 2023, Alyssa was diagnosed with Stage 4 AL Amyloidosis. Amyloidosis is rare genetic disorder. It is an aggressive disease where the blood produces proteins that are toxic to the body. These proteins spread and attack the organs. As Alyssa was not diagnosed until 40, there was a lot of damage to her heart. In 2023, She underwent weekly chemotherapy treatments for one year as well as participating in an experimental medication trial. She continues chemotherapy once per month in addition to the many, many medications she takes daily. Incredibly enough, the treatment brought her "bad" numbers down significantly and was able to stop the disease from progressing.

Unfortunately, as she has stage 4, even with the treatment stopping from further damage, her heart and her kidneys have sustained too much trauma and as a result she is in heart failure. She needs to have both a heart and a kidney transplant.

As of December 2024, she has been officially listed on the Union Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) transplant list and is awaiting transplant! This is great news.

What she needs help with is this: after her transplant(s) she will be out of work and recovering at home for at least 6 months. Alyssa is self employed and as such does not have sick time/benefits. I'm sure you can imagine, six months without income is a terrifying situation to be in. She needs our help!

Alyssa is unlike any person that you'll ever meet. From the first conversation, I knew I had found a best friend. She is truly the sweetest, most thoughtful person I have ever known. She won't hesitate to help others in any way she can. She cares for her people with her whole heart. She will go out of her way to make people feel safe, accepted and supported.

Alyssa is a psychotherapist here on the Cape and has spent the last 10 years supporting her clients navigate their trauma, mental illness and life challenges. She is a gem to the mental health community. And now, this incredible helper needs *our* help.

She is not one to ask for favors, and if she could do this on her own, she would. It truly takes a village and I'm hoping our village comes through. Every little bit helps. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and we cannot thank you enough if you are able to donate.
