On September 12, 2019 I had a biopsy done and was diagnosed with breast cancer on September 17, 2019. This was after finding a lump during a routine self-breast exam the week before, having not had my regular mammogram this year. I say this to emphasize how important it is to do self-breast exams as I found the lump very early, which increased the odds of a good prognosis. I am lucky in that it is not the hereditary type and is early stage, which has an excellent prognosis. I will be going for surgery to have the tumors removed, but will be unable to work during the recovery period, which is 4-6 weeks post op. I am self-contracted, which means that I will have no income during that time. It has not been determined what other treatment is necessary as that will depend on what is or isn’t found during the surgery/biopsy of the lymph nodes. Minimally, I will be undergoing radiation and targeted hormonal therapy. I am creating this fund to help monthly bills/expenses and any part of my treatment that is not covered by insurance. Any money collected that is in excess of my own costs will be donated to the Susan G Komen Foundation for breast cancer research in honor of myself, my aunt who fought valiantly, and other survivors and warriors of this disease. Thank you so much!!!
