Alyssa Lee's Wheelchair Van Fund
Alyssa was born as a happy, healthy baby in 2008.  6 months later she began showing delays and we began our search for answers.  On May 3, 2011 we received the diagnosis of Rett Syndrome.  This is a genetic disorder that occurs primarily in girls.  It causes a regression between age 2 and 4 years of life.  Alyssa lost her ability to walk, talk, and the use of her hands; however her brain is not impacted.  She is a typical 7 year old.  She loves kindergarten, her friends, music, and riding horses.
Due to her inability to walk, Alyssa is dependent on a wheelchair for mobility.  At this time we must life her in/out of her wheelcahir, load her into the van, then lift the wheelchair into the van.  This is time consuming and is wearing on our backs.  In Alabama, there is no funding assistance for adaptive vehicles and average $60,000.  We are trying to raise enough money for the down payment to make the monthly payments affordable.  ANY assistance is appreciated!
