Hi friends!
As most of you know now, I was diagnosed with blood cancer a few months ago and currently undergoing chemotherapy every other week for a projected 6 months.
While it still kind of feels surreal that I'm going through this, it's been quite a humbling and knowledgeable experience. Cancer isn't something that is really talked about. Just the word "cancer" almost feels taboo to say. But, it has been so helpful opening up about it publicly and helping to educate others about what goes on behind the scenes and what I do to combat the toxins and side effects from chemo.
I have been surrounded by so much love and support from my friends and family, with the most asked question, "How can I help?", or, "Let me know if there is anything I can do!".
Well, there is something you can do for me!

JOIN ME ON DECEMBER 1st in San Rafael at Marin Heavy Athletics!
Or, if you're not into weightlifting or can't join the meet, you can still donate here to help.
As you probably know, I compete in olympic weightlifting and it's basically my favorite thing to do (besides watch my chickens run with their cute fluffy butts). While I am not physically able to lift right now, my coach, Freddy Myles at Myles Ahead Weightlifting, has created this special meet where all of the proceeds from the day will be donated to my cancer fund!!!

I am so honored that Freddie and coach Yasha Faye from Marin Heavy Athletics, are hosting this meet dedicated to raising funds to support my medical bills. They have both helped to shape me into the athlete and person I always strived to be.
I honestly can't even put into words how much this means to me. Truly speechless and many happy tears are flowing. I never knew the community around me was this strong, and I am humbled to be apart of your life. It sure is a good one.
And I hope to see you at "Alyssa's Meet"!
Just remember to fist bump me instead of a hug. Rain check that hug for May 2019 when I'm done beating the fuck out of this cancer.
You all know I'm a lover and a fighter :) LOVE YOU ALL!
