Helping Alyssa Corrigan's Boys
Donation protected
Writing this on behalf of Alyssa Corrigan's family as they are handling the heavy reality of the situation:
At the young age of 32, Alyssa was a mom of a 2-year old son with another boy on the way! During her 3rd trimester, she started experiencing some confusion, short-term memory issues, and word-finding difficulty. Doctors thought it was just a sleep-deprived young mom who was experiencing “pregnancy brain”.
Two days after she gave birth to her 2nd baby boy, Grant, Alyssa’s confusion and slurred speech continued to intensify. She was scheduled to be discharged home the next day but her family ordered for the hospital to do a MRI ASAP. The MRI showed a brain tumor the size of a grapefruit. They kept Alyssa in the hospital for an additional 10 days after birth for her to recover from birth as she then had to prep her body for a 10-hour craniotomy surgery in hopes to remove as much of the brain tumor as possible. Her newborn was discharged home with Alyssa’s sister as Alyssa’s husband and Alyssa stayed in the hospital.
Post-surgery, Alyssa’s family was informed the unthinkable. Alyssa’s tumor was an aggressive brain cancer that ended up being stage 4 glioblastoma. The average survival rate was 12-18 months. Having two young sons ages 2-year old and 12 days old, Alyssa’s husband and family needed to act quickly for the best and most aggressive treatment in hopes to give Alyssa more time.
Alyssa ended up going through a year long clinical trial in NYC, two 30-day rounds of radiation, countless days of chemotherapy, avastin infusions but the cancer continued to stay.
On March 12, 2024, Alyssa Corrigan passed away from a 5-year battle with glioblastoma. She showed incredible strength and resilience throughout her fight, and her legacy is one of selflessness, inspiration, and hope.
Please consider supporting her two precious boys Declan, 7, and Grant, 5, and husband Ryan as they process and grieve this immense loss. All donations will go directly to Ryan and the boys.
Thank you in advance, any donation will go a long way.
