Hi friends, and supporters. My 11 year old sister has been diagnosed with (ALL) acute lymphocytic leukemia. The diagnosis came in back in October 29th 2023. She immediately began treatment. The doctors became concerned with her kidneys showing signs of the cancerous cells attacking her kidneys. Alyson spent 10 days in the PICU connected to a dialysis machine. Everything about this experience was traumatic, and painful for her. The storm began to clear up, and Alyson was set to begin her chemotherapy. She was never alone in this battle, although on some days her soldiers were beaten, and exhausted from sleepless nights, and sadness clouding their vision. Not all hope was lost in these times. Our spirit as a family only became stronger for her, and continuously fed her with our love, and reminding her that we are rooting for her. With all the new medication Alyson’s body started receiving she developed many complications. One of them being diabetes type 2. Since the time up until now of when this living nightmare began.. she has lost over 50 pounds. Since her hospital discharge 11/10/23 she’s had to be admitted twice now.. 11/20/23 most recent 12/1/23. Although, Alyson is one young brave girl, and is putting up her greatest fight against this cancer, and all adversities life is throwing her way. It has not been easy for her, and her loved ones. We will remain strong, and enrich her with our love & support. We are looking at a 12-24 months of recovery for Alyson, this indicates that our mom will have to take time off work to care for her at home. Financially this is burden, and creates more unneeded stress to our household. As a family we feel pinned against a corner. But, will carry on.. We appreciate your love, and support in this difficult time. Please consider donating, or even sharing this post. Anything does help. Your kindness, and love is very much appreciated. Let’s show Alyson she is not alone. ( I'll update on her recovery journey. ) ( Thank you CHLA & all the staff. You guys are nothing short of amazing. ) ✊
