In early April our beautiful little Aly went from being a vivacious 4-year-old who couldn’t wait to play t-ball, go to ballet and see her friends at school to being a very tired and lethargic child. She was rushed to Stanford Hospital (Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital) for a blood transfusion after doctors informed her parents that she had a diagnosis of leukemia, a type of blood and bone marrow cancer. The type of leukemia that Aly has is called B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), which is one of the more common types of cancer found in children and is highly treatable. Nonetheless, this is devastating news for Aly and her family.
She has already begun treatment, which includes chemotherapy, blood transfusions and many different medications. It’s going to be a long road ahead for Aly, her parents and big brother. She’s a fighter and has the love and support from everyone.
Her treatment journey could be up to two years. A Caring Bridge site has been created so family and friends can walk the journey with us. https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/alyssafreitas .
Even with medical insurance, the costs are building up and will continue over the upcoming months.
If you can help in any way by donating or sharing, it would be greatly appreciated!
We are grateful for your consideration and donation to help our family fight and beat this.
