Hi everyone,
If you know me well then you probably know that I basically consider my little cat Rue to be my first child. I got her as a rescue kitten when I first moved to California and she has been the best little roommate that I ever could have asked for. I actually didn't know that cats could like to cuddle as much as she does, or that they could play fetch better than any dog our family has ever owned.
Let September Rue decided that she wanted to start a new diet and had to have emergency surgery because she ate an entire baggie's worth of my hair ties. We handled the $1800 vet bill back then and she recovered with flying colors.
Last night, though, she got really sick and we don't know what's wrong with her. She was perfectly fine, eating and playing and purring, and then began crying and throwing up out of nowhere. After that she got really lethargic and would cry whenever I touched her belly. We brought her immediatly to the emergency animal hospital where she continued to throw up, eventually throwing up blood and having bloody stools for the majority of the night. After some X-rays and blood tests, the vet still can't tell us what's wrong with her today. They're monitoring her and giving her some medications, and she seems to have stopped getting sick, but no one knows if she will get better or worse again. If she does get worse again she will have to go back to a vet specialist who may charge up to $1500 more than the almost $2000 we have racked up in medical costs for her over the past 14 hours. Either that or I may have to put down my little sidekick, which I can't even type without starting to cry, so the idea of actually doing it seems next to impossible.
I know these GoFundMe accounts are set up for people with all sorts of serious illnesses and problems, and Rue is just a cat to most of you. But to me and Dave she is family and I can't imagine life without her little meow around our apartment. She's supposed to have like 15 more years left to live, so if you could donate even 5 dollars to help us make sure that we can get her the treatment that she needs it would mean the world to us. If she needs to go back to the specialist then I may raise the total of this page, but anything extra that is donated I will make sure gets donated to the SPCA or Humane Society so we can help all of the other little guys out there.
