She was beautiful. She was generous. She was the life of the party. She was born Feb 3, 1970 in Lamesa.Texas.Amber Dawn Petty Cummings attended elementary school at Cross Plains,Schulenburg, Crane,Wink & Union Grove Texas. Amber attended high school at Union Grove,Bandera & Comfort Texas graduating from Comfort h s in 1988. Amber graduated from Sul Ross State University with Honors in 1994. Summer of 1994 Amber was invited to attend the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York city. Amber was in New Orleans in 1995 worling on 'Interview with the Vampire' & appearing as the main female lead in an independent film. In 1995 Amber moved to Los Angeles working on several tv & movies. Amber joined the Teamsters Union & continued to work continually until her death on September 30th 2014. Amber lived in Corrales,NM after living briefly in Santa Fe & Eldorado. Amber loved Corrales. Her cowboy boots, western hat & boots with jangles fit right in. Beautiful inside & out Amber loved deeply,cared sincerely . Alcoholism snuck up on her. Engulfing the last 5 years of her life.The saddest most deceptive realization after the fact is how beautiful, youthful & hard working she appeared to be to the end.No one knew how the disease had raveged her mind & body. ''mama'' knew. Amber battled the disease. In 2011 checking into rehab in Bedford Texas.Feb 2012 Amber went to Narconon in Oklahoma.After realizing the rehab was funded with scientology ''mama'' picked Amber up. 2013 Amber made time for loved ones. She worked on a movie in Austin,Texas. She spent Thanksgiving at Corpus Christie with mama & family. New Year's eve Amber was with 3 beloved girlfriends, Misty, Amy & Shea. & Mike. February 2014 Amber celebrated her 44th birthday & a belated xmas '13 with mama & Mike. Amber continued to work thru 2014. She tried to conceal the petit mal seisures that her mom noticed in May. Amber flew to a Michigan rehab on June 22nd. She flew back to Texas on August 2nd. Amber stayed with mama in Granbury Texas most of August. The beautiful blonde with big brown eyes & a Marilyn Monroe body , the teamster who worked 20 hours a day. The teamster from local 492 who knew such actors as Daniel Craig, John Travolta, Morgan Freeman, Virginia Madsen, Harrison Ford & so many more, was fading. September 30th 2014 Amber had been called in to work on a new NBC production ''Dig''. Mama got married the day before on September 29th. Amber did not go. Mama understood. Amber reported to work at 6:30 am. She didnt feel well. But there was no alcohol in her system. Around 2:30 pm Amber took her cowboy hat off & laid it on the seat. She lay her head on her folded up jacket. She didnt wake up. Local teamsters 492 in Albuquerque had a day of celebration in Amber's memory. On August 2nd 2015 Amber's ashes were laid on a heart shaped wreath of yellow roses, shasta daisies & dendrobium orchids. Amber's favorites , down the Chama river for her final river raft. Amber was her happiest & free est floating down a river, laughing with friends, eating by firelight & ending the day with a game of farkel. Amber loved to watch birds overhead he casita in Corrales NM. She loved the hot air balloons in October. She decorated lavishly & dressed for her favorite holiday- Halloween. Amber learned to cook tortilla soup, stuffed jalepenos & mexican cornbread. She wood often cook & carry it down to the local hangout, the Sandia. The hot food & Amber were always welcome. Amber was a special soul. She was utterly beautiful & utterly unaware of it. She gave everything in work, in love & in down time. The AMBER DAWN CUMMINGS MEMORIAL FUND has been established to feed & care for animals in Corrales,NM.
