Alvin J. Pugh - Air Force Veteran
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Virginia Chacon and I setting up a Go Fund Me for the Pugh Family of Colorado. Since January 2022 they have been trying to find their brother, Alvin Pugh, an Air Force Veteran that was living in New York City,. They had been in consistent communication with him up until late January 2022 when he did not return their calls, text messages or emails. The have been searching for him for the last 2 years. They called hospitals in New York, the VA, the Police, you name it, they did not leave any stone unturned. On March 16th of this year, 2024, through a Google Search, they discovered that he passed away on February 2, 2022. He was buried on February 21st of the following year at Calverton National Cemetery in New York. They were NEVER notified of his death and found out through a google search. They contacted the Veterans National Cemetery Association, the New York Medical Examiners Office, The Department of Veterans affairs and the funeral home that handled his remains and was informed that they buried him because they could not locate the family. The family is still in the same home as when Alvin enlisted, and his sister is listed as his next of kin in his VA paperwork. We feel that there was not a search for this well known family in the community and that they could have easily been found 2 years ago.
In order to properly lay their brother to rest, they will have a funeral. They are exploring the options of having him laid to rest in Colorado, his home and are in the process of trying to locate his personal possessions, vehicle, and items that were in his apartment in New York. In order to do so, they must hire a private investigator to search for his belongings, and also, the cost with having a funeral in his home state and having him laid to rest here is a cost that they will assume, due to the VA will not pay for transporting his remains to CO, exhuming his remains, and all other cost associated with properly laying him to rest.
We are seeking funds to assist with offsetting the cost of the funeral, exhuming remains, and locating his personal belongings. He gave his life to serve our Country and deserves to be laid to rest with a proper burial according to his religious beliefs, and most of all with his family and friends. If you are not able to contribute monetarily, we ask that you keep the family in your prayers. Also, please note that any unused funds will be used to help other families of Veterans that might be experiencing the same injustice of how their loved one was treated.
