Help Alvin — Beloved “Apaw” — Fight Cancer and Stay Close to Family

We’re reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful hearts to ask for your help for an extraordinary man, Alvin, lovingly known as “Apaw” to his two little granddaughters, who adore and need him in their lives.

At 79 years old, Alvin should be spending his days surrounded by family, laughter, and the love of his grandbabies. Instead, he’s facing one of the hardest battles of his life — a recent diagnosis of prostate cancer.

Alvin lives on a fixed income, and the mounting medical bills, co-pays, and basic costs of living have become more than he and April (his partner of 17 years) can bear alone. To make matters harder, Alvin must relocate to be closer to specialized doctors and the family who wants nothing more than to care for him every step of the way.

If you know Alvin, you know he’s spent his whole life giving — not just to family, but to countless animals and people in need. For over a decade, Alvin has been a devoted animal rescuer and transporter, driving through rain, snow, and even blizzards to get homeless pets to safety and new beginnings. He’s the man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, no questions asked. His kindness, warmth, and quiet generosity have touched so many lives — now it’s our turn to give that love back to him.
