Hi everyone, I’m Allan, a neighbor here at the Toy Factory. I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Alvin, whose partner and best friend, Jerry McCoy, passed away this week from pancreatic cancer.

Jerry was such a big part of this building. Every neighbor who has reached out has said the same things. He was warm. He was kind. He was generous. He always had time to say hello. He made people feel welcome, and he brought a lot of joy into this place.

Over the last few months, Alvin stopped working so he could care for Jerry full time. It was incredibly hard on him in every way. Now he is grieving the person he shared his life with, while also facing medical bills, living expenses, and the costs of planning Jerry’s memorial in January.

If you are anything like me, your heart goes out to Alvin but you are not always sure how to help. I figured that if we all chip in a little bit, we can take some of the pressure off and give him some breathing room. Even the smallest amount will help.
