I write this with a heavy heart because I never imagined this being the reality of our lives, but I would like to address what has been going on to our friends and family. On January 21st our father, husband, and loving friend to everyone Alvaro was driving home from work about twenty minutes away from home he was struck from behind and taken straight to the emergency room where he underwent spinal surgery for about eight hours. Medically the surgeons told us that there isn’t anything they can do to fix his spine as he maintained a dislocation of the cord. The injuries to his body were very extreme. He had an injury to one of his lungs and is now paralyzed from his waist down. He has continued to receive daily treatments in the hospital to help strengthen his lung and within the next few days will begin physical therapy to learn how to work with the lower half of his body. We are tremendously grateful to still have Alvaro here with us and thank God every day and are working to build back the pieces of life as we transition into a new season of our lives as individuals and a family. We want to publicly thank those of you that have been helping us in this time of need. As the news spreads I have decided to make this page for those whom have been asking how they can help. In this new season we have many things that will need to change to better suit Alvaro’s needs as well as Emilda (his wife) and kids. Home and transportation accessibility etc. will take a big part in making sure he can transition and feel comfortable. We have faith and leave the last word in Gods hands and know that he is with us in every moment. Alvaro and the family have a very long journey ahead and anything will help to cover these costs. Thank you so much for your prayers, love and support.
