Israeli soldiers have been conducting night raids on homes in Hassan and Achmed’s village for weeks - detaining men, terrifying families, and causing lasting trauma. Hassan’s rented apartment— by the main road — has been raided repeatedly. During one raid, a gun was pointed at his 8-year-old son. When Hassan protested, he was detained, beaten and hospitalized. After another raid his son, who has a heart condition, needed medical attention.
Why we are raising funds
Thanks to your previous donations, Hassan has finished building a cistern and has begun construction of a two-room house on family land which he has begun to farm. The land is far from the main road, making him less “available” for army raids, The house will also save rent, will make it convenient to farm his land and will allow his children to play outside safely. But he urgently needs:
• NIS 6,000 to finish the concrete walls
• NIS 20,000 for the roof
• NIS 5,400 for medical expenses (dentistry and dislocated shoulder)
Achmed is also struggling with urgent expenses:
• NIS 3,000 for his wife’s emergency dental care
• NIS 3,600 for heating wood
• NIS 10,000 to repay cistern construction costs
Total needed: NIS 48,000 (approx. $20,500 CAD)
Your funds will help Hassan secure a safe home where his children can finally sleep — and help Achmed keep his family warm, healthy, and stable. As Hassan says, “I want to change the air my children breathe. Right now, they are anxious, sleepless, and therefore often unable to attend school.”
We are a group of Canadians and Europeans living in Jerusalem and abroad who are doing our best to help West Bank Palestinian families in crisis due to the war, military occupation and increased settler violence. Your funds enhance their safety and dignity, and create a path toward self-sufficiency - one family at a time. Please help us finish Hassan’s home — and help both families survive and become more sustainable in spite of the difficulties and dangers they face.
Your gift can help families surmount crisis, step by step.
* Please make note that donations to this campaign are in Canadian dollars, worth about 75% of US dollars.
