AL TAKES A BRIDE, by Gary Sunshine
Donation protected
Over a hundred years before the U.S. Congress passes the Defense of Marriage Act, two young southern women imagine their wedding to each other. Full of lyrical suspense and based loosely on a high-profile, turn of the century murder case, Al Takes A Bride hinges on impossible choices, where decisions rest somewhere between dreaming and dying.

In the wake of several groundbreaking Broadway, Off-Broadway and regional pieces that explore women's gender and sexuality such as Fun Home, Paula Vogel's Indecent, and the upcoming staged adaptation of Sarah Waters' Fingersmith, we are producing small-scale, indie-theatre to promote queer visibility and showcase the importance of women's stories. Frayed Hemline is ecstatic to bring you Al Takes A Bride.
