Altaf's journey of recovery

Hello fellow taxi drivers,

We come to you today with a heartfelt plea for support for Altaf Hussain, a dedicated taxi driver who has faced an unimaginable tragedy.

Altaf was on a routine trip, having accepted a booking from Panther Taxis from Cambridge to Luton airport in the early hours of the morning, when an escaped horse ran onto the dual carriageway, leading to a devastating crash. Altaf suffered severe injuries, was taken by ambulance to Addenbrookes Hospital and was in a coma for over a month. The situation was dire, with Altaf showing no signs of responsiveness. Doctors told Altaf’s family that because of Altaf’s condition they saw no alternative than to tragically turn off his life-support. It was agreed that because family members were travelling from America to say their final goodbyes, the turning off of his life-support would happen after those family members had arrived. Miraculously, Altaf defied the odds and started to show small signs of improvement, he was quickly moved to The Royal Papworth Hospital for more specialist care while remaining in a coma, where against all odds he woke up from the coma.

It truly feels like a miracle, and Altaf feels his second chance at life was due to the kindness and good deeds he has done for others throughout his years.

However, the road to recovery is a long and challenging one. Altaf is the sole breadwinner for his family, consisting of a wife and four children ranging from the ages of 4 to 11. He faces extensive rehabilitation, including physiotherapy and the uncertainty of when he can return to work adds another layer of concern for him and his family.

We are reaching out to fellow taxi drivers, friends, and anyone who believes in supporting those in need. We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds that will go directly to Altaf and his family, providing financial relief during this difficult time which would hopefully cover expenses until he can return to work so Altaf can focus on his recovery
